ORLANDO—Amber Jack was named to the first team, while Shyla Rider, Brittany Anderson and Jessica Tabor made second-team and Amanda Goelz was honorable mention on the All-Sunshine State Conference softball team announce by the conference office today.
Jack, who went 21-11 with a 1.01 ERA and 259 strikeouts in 236 innings, earns first-team honors for the third straight year. She became the Bucs’ career leader in wins (91), saves (10), shutouts (50), and strikeouts (756) this season. She is the best control pitcher in school history as well, averaging just 0.67 walks per game.
Rider, the Bucs’ all-time hit leader with 254, batted .306 this season and led the team with 27 runs scored. She was also a perfect six-for-six stealing bases. She broke records for doubles (51), hit by pitch (22) and total bases (345) this season as well.
Anderson earns All-SSC for the second straight year after hitting .301 with 15 runs and 11 RBI. She threw out 25 percent of base runners, while stealing six-of-eight herself. An iron-woman at 5-2, she made 166 straight starts behind the plate for the Bucs over the last three years.
Jessica Tabor made a splash as a freshman, leading the team with a .328 average and two home runs and ranking second with 20 RBI out of her designate player slot.
Goelz, the 2007 SSC Freshman of the Year, was back on the team after a year absence. She hit .288 and led the team with 13 doubles while driving in 17.
The Bucs finished 32-19, 14-10 in the SSC, wining more than 20 games for the fifth straight year.
