SKILLMAN, N.J. –The Barry Buccaneers placed four on the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s NCAA Division II All-America list.

Men’s number two singles player, Emanuel Fraitzl was the most decorated, earning All-America honors in both singles and combined with partner Max Wimmer in doubles. Fraitzl went 17-2, including a 3-0 mark at number one singles. Against nationally-ranked opponents, he was a sparkling 5-1 on the season, including two wins over Armstrong Atlantic’s Paul Bishop with one coming in the national championship match.

Fraitzl and Wimmer went 17-5, including a 17-4 mark at number one doubles. In the Bucs run to the national final, the pair went 5-1 to give the team a head start in most matches.

Men’s number one Ales Svigelj earned his second straight All-America award. He went 12-3, including an 11-3 mark at number one singles. Two losses to number one ranked Edualdo Bonet from Armstrong Atlantic and one to national senior player of the year Julien Carsuzaa of Lynn were the only blemishes on his record.

The Bucs had one All-American on the women’s side as sophomore Angie Werschel brought home her first award. She went 15-4 in singles, all at the number one position. She pulled off a three-set, tie-breaker win over ninth-ranked Roshni Luthra in the NCAA Regional to propel the Bucs into the final.
