Daniel Serrano brings a wealth of experience to the Barry coaching staff after 12 years coaching in the high school ranks.
Serrano spent the last five years as the head coach at John Paul II Catholic High in Tallahassee. While at John Paul II, he finished with an overall record of 88-47. He coached JPII to the District 3A and regional championship in 2006-07, reaching as high as #2 in the Florida State High School Athletic Association 1A poll. While at JPII, Serrano earned Florida Athletic Coaches Association Honors in 2003-04 and 2004-05.
Prior to JPII, Serrano spent time as the varsity assistant coach at Saint Thomas Aquinas High in Ft. Lauderdale where he helped them to two district championships and one regional championship; and the varsity head coach at Champagnat Catholic High in Hialeah, Fla., where he recorded a district and regional championship in 2000-01 and acheived a #15 ranking in the USA Today Top 25 basketball poll. He led the Lions to a 33-2 mark and the top spot in the FSHSAA 2A poll.
Serrano is a graduate of LaSalle High in Miami, Fla., where he played varsity basketball for four years. Serrano is currently enrolled in the ACE Program at Barry University, where he is working on his BS in professional administration.
