Brianna Kearns enters her first year at Barry University as the graduate assistant rowing coach. She will be primarily focused on skill development and conditioning of the team’s novice members, while also pursuing her master’s in movement science with a concentration in sport & exercise psychology.
Prior to Barry, Kearns served as Philadelphia University women's varsity assistant coach from 2006-2008. She was instrumental in developing Philadelphia University's women's program in her first season, primarily coaching the women's lightweight 4+ and the women's novice 8+ that placed first at the 2007 Dad Vail Regatta. Last year, Kearns helped coach the women’s varsity 8+ to a fourth-place finish at the prestigious NCAA championship. She is currently US Rowing Level II certified.
Prior to coaching, Brianna was a member of Division I Saint Joseph's University (Philadelphia, Pa.) rowing team. Her biggest accomplishment while at SJU was stroking the varsity 8+ for the school's first Dad Vail Championship gold medal in May 2006. Her boat later traveled to England to compete in the Reading Regatta and more notably, the Women's Henley Regatta.
Brianna began her rowing career at Mainland Regional High School in south Jersey, where she earned first place in the varsity lightweight 8+ events for Cities, States and Stotesbury Championships.
