BUCkids Summer Camp Staff

Camp experiences are very important parts of a child’s total education.  Our counselors and instructors will create an atmosphere of enthusiasm, support and trust by communicating with children at their level.  All fulltime staff members are current college students or graduates.  They will participate in the establishment of rules, boundaries and consequences to help our young people learn life skills in decision-making and responsibility.  A criminal background investigation will be conducted prior to consideration for employment.

ALL employees of the BUCkid’s Camp (except CIT’s) are required to successfully complete the following:

  • Application for Employment (We are sorry, but all camp POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008.)
  • Supplemental Information Application Form
  • Background Check form
  • Be fingerprinted

Camp Counselors:

Counselors will be hired according to a predetermined criterion that includes: previous experience with children of all ages, academic achievement, sport specific backgrounds, as well as skills that complement the various themes of each week. All applicants will have background checks and be finger printed. All counselors will be CPR certified.  Click here for job description. (We are sorry, but all camp POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008.)

Camp Instructors:

We will be offering certified instruction to our campers in the areas of reading, writing, mathematics, music, dance, swimming, and art. These teachers will have prepared lesson plans that are grade appropriate for children grades K-6th grade, and they will be scheduled into their daily routine.  All instruction will follow the Florida Sunshine State standards.  Academic instruction will be conducted by a certified teacher. Click here for job description. (We are sorry, but all camp POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008.)

Counselors in Training:

We have a counselor in training program (C.I.T.) in place for young people ages of 13 and up. As a leadership opportunity for future counselors, C.I.T.’s are invited to experience the fun, stress, and rewards of working at camp as they assist a Counselor or Instructor.  The C.I.T. program is designed to teach young adults to be effective leaders so that they can use those skills when learning at school, at home, at work or wherever life may take them. Our goal is for each C.I.T. to mature and learn a little bit more about themselves as individuals, and as team members. This is an excellent community service experience.
