The Office of Mission Integration
The Office of Mission Integration is responsible for articulating and promoting the mission and identity of Barry University, an independent, coeducational Catholic university. Barry University was founded in 1940 by the Dominican Sisters of Adrian, Michigan, as Barry College for Women. The College became co-educational in 1975, and a University in 1981. The University’s mission and educational environment continue to be enriched by the ongoing sponsorship of the Adrian Dominicans.
Barry University’s recent implementation of a new strategic plan and subsequent collaborative review and rewriting of the Mission Statement, resulted in a new Mission Statement which is a clearer and more accurate articulation of Barry’s contemporary spirit and which remains true to our strong Catholic and Dominican roots.
Remaining welcoming and respectful of the various faith traditions of students, faculty and staff, this Office seeks, through education and dialogue, to advance and support the Catholic identity of the University and its connection with the Adrian Dominicans, while. We hope you will take some time to discover for yourself the richness of the Catholic and Dominican intellectual traditions—traditions that seek truth; value study, prayer and community; and work for social justice.
