Founders' Week Distinguished Lecture Series

For the second year, the “Founders’ Week Distinguished Lecture” will be offered as an opportunity for Barry students, faculty and staff, as a community of learners and scholars, to gain a better understanding of Catholic social teaching.

When: Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
Where: Broad Center for the Performing Arts

On Tuesday morning, Dr. Patrick McCormick, professor of religious studies at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington will share his insights on the topic “Why Social and Global Justice matter at a Catholic University.”

 
Dr. McCormick will address points related to:
• Why our Catholic and Biblical faith summons us to work for justice for all
• How this call to justice is fundamental to the work of the University
• How Catholic Universities help us see the beauty and sanctity of the other and of the whole of creation
• How Catholic Universities create communities that result in learning, reflection and action
