Become changemakers where students volunteer to sort donated canned foods, clean local parks, beach cleanup, urban garden spring cleanup. In collaboration with Barry University’s Center for Community Service Initiatives, the program now holds its annual Scholarship Engagement where Honors Program students take part in an experiential education on important social issues (in Spring 2020, working with Church World Service, students welcomed refugees to the Miami areas; in Spring 2021, working with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) and Alliance for Fair Food, students worked to support CIW’s Deliver with Dignity Campaign). At each Scholarship Engagement, students participate in CCSI’s sponsored orientation, pre-flection, and post-flection to learn about an important social issue and serve the community.
