The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. By participating in a rigorous curriculum rounded out by an array of edifying and interactive events, students explore crucial issues that we face in our daily lives. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of Barry University. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of Barry University and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

Foster Shock Documentary Screening and Q&A by Director Mari Frankel and Cinematographer Brian Bayer

"Foster Shock" is a documentary intended to educate the public about how Florida's 'privatized' child welfare was created and how this has left to massive amounts of taxpayer dollars being spent with little oversight and no accountability. The documentary was screened for more than 100 people from the Barry Community and other community partners.

The Hunting Ground Documentary Screening and Deliberative Dialogue

This campus-wide screening of the powerful and disturbing film "The Hunting Ground," documents the ubiquity of sexual assault on college campuses as well as the dearth of socially just, trauma-informed responses for sexual assault victims. The discussion focused on factors contributing to the appalling treatment of victims by powerful institutions, as well as targets for student and community advocacy.

Brave Miss World Film Screening and Panel

This documentary explores the aftermath of sexual assault on the lives of women across the globe, with attention to social, legal, and structural factors that re-traumatize victims, The screening was hosted Dr. Dr. Alissa Ackerman an advocate and survivor of sexual assault.

Paper Tigers Documentary Screening and Discussion

The groundbreaking documentary on trauma informed schools, Paper Tigers, has been screening several times by the CHRSJ. The screenings include a reflection, and dialogue aimed at taking first steps to create trauma informed communities and systems of care in South Florida. These transformational events are attended by students, faculty, and multidisciplinary leaders across Dade and Broward counties.

Pariah Film Screening

The films "Pariah" was screened for students across the Barry University Campus, as part of the university’s PRIDE week in October. Pariah explores the experiences of sexual minority young people of color with attention to the role of structural and cultural oppression. This film and the ensuing dialogue challenged stereotypes, created safe space for sharing feelings and
