Our Mission To integrate and educate, while advocating, empowering, mobilizing Latino social work students who are interested in areas concerning the latino population and the profession of social work. The organization will work to promote and improve the perception of the Latino culture and provide support for Latino social work students.

Events Planned: Here are a few examples of academic, social, and professional activities that will be planned for the organization:

  1. Create distinguished speaker's program and lectures from prominent Latino lecturers from the social work and allied mental health field to speak to our students.
  2. A monthly e-newsletter that addresses key Latino issues in the field of social work. Topics for the newsletter will include articles written by our alumni, faculty, and from our students.
  3. Panel discussions and roundtables to speak with Latino students about their careers and the impact that they can have in the social work profession.
  4. Incorporate self-awareness and self-reflection to promote career-long professional development with Latino populations. 
  5. Utilize theories, models, and approaches to advanced Latino integrated practice that promote empowerment and respect.
  6. Apply knowledge of how oppression, discrimination, or historical trauma impacts practice with latino individuals and communities.
