Faculty & Staff Alumni Award Dr. Eileen McDonough, MBA 1982

Dr. Eileen McDonough, MBA 1982

Mary Eileen McDonough loves teaching, advising and working with students, helping them earn their degrees. She has been doing just that at Barry University since 1970, first teaching chemistry, then higher education courses, all the while developing curriculum and holding the administrative positions of Associate Dean, Dean and Associate Vice President.

With a faculty ranking of full Professor of Education, McDonough has been recognized with several outstanding teaching awards, including the Barry University Visionary Award of Excellence. She has served as NCAA Faculty Athletic Representative since 1983 and currently chairs the Degree Completion Committee, which awards scholarships to student-athletes who need money to complete their degrees. A former student-athlete even set up a scholarship in her name for that purpose.

McDonough originally hails from Philadelphia. She earned a BS in Chemistry from Chestnut Hill College, an MS in Chemistry from Marquette University, an MBA from Barry University and an EdD in Higher Education Administration from Nova University.

In the community, McDonough works with several nonprofit organizations, including the Miami Springs Women’s Guild and Blessed Trinity Church. With her late husband, Michael McDonough, a Barry alumnus, she has three children and five grandchildren.
