Biography
J.J. Myers, CFRE is a seasoned leader whose career spans nearly two decades in marketing communications, fundraising, and nonprofit leadership. His diverse experience encompasses vital sectors such as healthcare, wellness, human services, and higher education, where he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to driving organizational success through strategic resource development. J.J. is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), underscoring his expertise in fundraising practices and ethics.
Currently, J.J. holds the position of Senior Director of Development and Foundation Relations at Barry University in Miami, Florida. In this role, he is instrumental in securing essential resources supporting the universitys health, technology, environmental sustainability, and student success initiatives. His dedication to these efforts aligns seamlessly with Barry's mission to foster transformative educational experiences for its students.
Beyond his contributions at Barry University, J.J. is actively engaged in the public relations community as the Treasurer for the Public Relations Society of America - Greater Fort Lauderdale Chapter. He supports a network of over 100 public relations professionals in this capacity while ensuring the organizations financial integrity. His leadership extends to several nonprofit organizations, where he has notably served as a past board member and co-chair for National Philanthropy Day 2023 with the Association of Fundraising Professionals - Fort Lauderdale Chapter.
J.J. is academically accomplished, holding a Master of Arts from the University at Buffalo - SUNY, a Master of Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science from The College at Brockport - SUNY.
Currently, he is pursuing a Doctor of Education at Baylor University, further enhancing his expertise in the field. Residing in Miami, Florida, J.J. balances his professional life with a range of personal interests, including kayaking, beach outings, cooking, and reading a good book.
