Biography

Anthony Palmieri is a highly credentialed and certified professional investigator and auditor, and regarded as a pioneer in the field of guardianship monitoring. As the Deputy Inspector General and Chief Guardianship Investigator for the Clerk & Comptroller, Palm Beach County, Anthony helped launch the Clerk’s award-winning Guardianship Monitoring Program, which was amongst the first of its kind in the nation. In his role at the Clerk’s office, Anthony also serves as the Administrative Coordinator for the Clerks’ Statewide Investigations Alliance, a coalition of accredited inspector general offices from across the state that investigate guardianships on behalf of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, Office of Public and Professional Guardians (OPPG). Anthony is a nationally recognized expert on Silver Collar Crimes perpetrated against the elderly, and has been invited to speak throughout the United States and globally about his work auditing and investigating guardianship cases. He has personally audited and investigated more than 2,000 guardianships looking for signs of fraud, waste, and abuse. He is a Board Member of the Florida State Guardianship Association and the National Guardianship Association. He was formerly appointed to the Foundation for Indigent Guardianships (FIG) Board of Directors, the National State Courts Association (NSCA) Guardianship Fraud Red Flags Expert Panel, the Florida House of Representatives Guardianship Workgroup, and the White House Conference on Aging. In June 2017, he was appointed to the Florida Working Interdisciplinary Network of Guardianship Stakeholders (WINGS) by the Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Anthony has been invited to testify as an expert by the Nevada Supreme Court, the Tennessee Bar Association, The Florida Bar, and the Florida Attorney General’s Office. He is frequently quoted in local and national publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The Palm Beach Post, and The Sun Sentinel. Before joining the Clerk’s office, Anthony spent nearly a decade working at the Texas-based world headquarters of a publicly-traded corporation with more than 2,200 locations, where he conducted fraud and special investigations throughout the nation. But strong family ties led him back to South Florida, and eventually to the field of guardianship monitoring, auditing, and investigating. Anthony first moved to Florida in high school. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, where he was named the “Most Outstanding Summer Intern” by the College of Business. Anthony went on to attend the Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law, where as a third year law student and father of two young boys, he held down a part-time job and commuted more than four hours to attend classes. He earned his Juris Doctorate in May 2010. Anthony was the first-ever “Classroom Dad” at his sons’ elementary school and volunteered as a youth head football coach for more than a decade, winning conference championships and a state championship. In his free time, Anthony enjoys attending Gators football games, going to the beach and spending time with his beautiful wife, teenage sons, and two Royal Bahamian Potcake rescue dogs.
