Joe Cornely is the Assistant Director for Planning Design and Construction Excellence at Miami-Dade County Government. With extensive experience in construction management, finance, project program management, and building science, Joe ensures that all projects meet the highest quality, safety, and sustainability standards. He excels in aligning projects with organizational goals, particularly those related to green initiatives such as LEED Certification and Nature-Based Playgrounds.
Joe's leadership skills are well-honed, supported by his experience as a US Army Infantry Captain and a US Army Ranger School graduate. This background has instilled a strong sense of discipline, strategic planning, and team management, which he effectively applies in his current role. Joe leverages advanced materials and technologies to create environmentally sustainable and resilient structures, staying at the forefront of sustainable construction trends and technologies.
Joe earned an MBA in Finance and Management from Barry University in 2017 and an undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Building Construction from the University of Florida. His academic achievements are complemented by his recognition as a Silver Knight nominee and the recipient of the Florida Sterling Award in 2023, underscoring his commitment to excellence in the field.
