Biography

Pat Stockton holds degrees in Mathematics, Education, Theology and Social Work, and certificates in Spiritual Direction and Mediation, from Boston College, Florida Atlantic University and from Barry University. She was born to an international family (U.S., Peru, Germany and Holland) and has studied in universities in different countries as well as locally. Pat has worked for the last 10 years as Hospice Clinical Social Worker, Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor providing guidance and emotional support to persons with an end stage diagnosis, and their loved ones, attending to their needs, as well as writing materials that are supportive in their grieving process. She worked previously at the Archdiocese of Miami as Director of Campus Ministry, Director of the Rural Life Office and Mathematics Teacher in the Catholic Schools system. The United Nations – local and international levels-, United Nations Associations, h Rise Up Florida, Americans for Immigrant Justice, Barry University Alumni Board, Mision Manos Hermanas are some of the organizations where she invests time and energy as a volunteer. Pat joined the UN Women –Miami Chapter in 2011. Currently she is the Board’s Vice-President of Membership. She initiated her connections with UN work in 2010 when she was appointed as Head Delegate to the United Nations by the Teresian Association, an NGO with Consultative Status. She received training for this position in Madrid Spain and since then she has actively participated in the yearly meetings of the Committee on the Status of Women. (CSW)- United Nations -New York, as well as in the Global Compact of Migration three year process. Pat has extensive experience as advocate, community organizer and lobbyist in South Florida, focusing on farm worker labor issues. Among her accomplishments are: being the founder of National Catholic Farm Worker Network, writing manuals for farm worker religious education published by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. She also organized yearly Walks – with an average 600 participants- for the purpose of raising awareness about farm worker issues and raising funds for organizing efforts – Cesar Chavez’ United Farm Workers. Pat served for six years in the National Advisory Board of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development – the number one organization in the U.S. which funds empowerment projects. At the core of all of her engagements, is her commitment since she was 17 - within the Teresian Association, an international lay organization approved by the Vatican, dedicated to the work of culture and education.
