Biography

A physician, academician, researcher, administrator and mentor with an impressive career, including serving as the first female and Hispanic CEO of Jackson Health Systems, Dr. Roldan brings a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to preparing future leaders with the tools and techniques needed to navigate today’s complex healthcare environment. She was a founding faculty member of the Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, where she played a pivotal role in developing key curricula, including the Professionalism Strand and Health Systems Science curriculum.

Dr. Roldan’s Cuban roots, high-profile leadership roles, healthcare expertise, and international educational journey, paired with her bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, have made her a sought-after spokesperson on health policy, healthcare management, and obesity, providing vital insights across various media platforms. A lifelong learner, Dr. Roldan graduated with high honors from Ross School of Medicine and completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology and fellowship in pediatric pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine. She holds a Master of Public Health from the University of South Florida and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee Haslam School of Business, both with high honors, and has attended prestigious executive programs at Harvard, Thunderbird, and the Wharton School of Business, where she is an alumnus and serves on their Executive Education Advisory Board.

Coinciding with her tenure at FIU, Dr. Roldan served as principal investigator in numerous clinical studies focused on innovative medical treatments for obesity and infectious diseases. She has authored scientific papers and contributed chapters to medical textbooks, receiving numerous national, state, and local accolades in medicine, business, and academics. Notably, her latest chapter, “Cuban American Women Making History,” published in November 2023, chronicles her journey as a female healthcare leader.
