Biography

Andreina Jimenez was born in Venezuela and moved to the United States with her family at the age of four. Her family settled in Miami. She eventually attended Barry University where she obtained her undergraduate degree in chemistry. She then went on to purse graduate studies, and completed her doctoral degree in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at the University of Miami. Her dissertation was entitled, “Development of New Hydrogen Bond Donor Catalytic Methods and Their Applications to the Diels-Alder Reactions of Nitroalkenes.” In the fall of 2013 she accepted the position of Assistant Professor at Miami Dade College. In addition, she has held adjunct positions at Broward College, and at Barry University’s Physical Sciences and Biomedical Sciences Departments. Her research interests involve the synthesis of Ferrocenium complexes. She lives in Miramar FL with her husband and three children.
