Biography

Dr. Carolyn Daniels, an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of practice, currently serves as an assistant professor at Barry University's School of Social Work. Her diverse background includes work in schools, healthcare, adolescent dual-diagnosis treatment, child protection, community mental health, and hospice care. She is a SAMHSA certified trauma trainer, specializing in trauma-informed care with a focus on death, dying, and bereavement. Dr. Daniels is pursuing certification in expressive arts to enhance trauma-informed practices for students. Her research explores death-related topics, frontline healthcare worker experiences, and improved pedagogy in higher education. She's passionate about integrating neuroscience and culturally responsive teaching through group dynamics and a trauma-informed lens. With a Thanatology certificate, she's skilled in addressing traumatic grief and has presented on grief-related topics, AI integration in expressive arts, and group dynamics locally, nationally, and internationally. Dr. Daniels is a member of NASW, IASWG, IEATA, and a current student at EAFI.
