Biography
Professor Jay dedicated her career as an attorney to the practice of entertainment, art, intellectual property, and business law, which included negotiating and drafting contracts; entity formation, maintenance, and dissolution; trademark and copyright clearance, registration, licensing, and assignment; rights enforcement and royalty collection; and providing legal guidance to creatives, influencers, entrepreneurs, and members of the music, film, video game, literary, theatre, fine art, and media industries. She negotiated and concluded deals with major enterprises such as HBO, Disney, Warner Chappell, Discovery, Telemundo, Sony/Columbia, Universal Music Group, Little, Brown & Company, and Sub Pop, and has represented Oscar, Grammy, and Emmy winners. She routinely prepared and submitted trademark applications to the United States Patent and Trademark Office and successfully represented clients before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Professor Jay spent 11 years as an educator at Full Sail University, where she created and taught both undergraduate and graduate courses in entertainment and intellectual property law and contract negotiations, and was responsible for the formation of the university’s first Pre-Law Club. Professor Jay joined the Barry University School of Law faculty in 2019 as an adjunct professor.
