Debbie Chanan’s research interests include student-athlete well-being, social-emotional learning in K-12 schools, and educational experiences of social work students and their use of social media.
Biography
Debbie Chanan, Ed.S, MSW joined the Barry University School of Social Work as the Bachelor of Social Work Program Director and Instructor in the Fall of 2021. She teaches at the undergraduate and Master’s levels, including practice and service learning courses. Before joining Barry University, Chanan held school social work and school counseling positions in K-12 schools throughout Chicago and South Florida. She earned her Master of Social Work Degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an Education Specialist Degree in Counselor Education from Florida Atlantic University. Additionally, because of her passion for leadership and clinical practice, she is currently pursuing her Doctoral Degree in Social Work at Barry University.
