Biography

Dr. Barger is a proud two-time Barry University Alumnus, having graduated from Barry in 2000 with a Master of Science in Anesthesiology and then in 2019 with a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with specialization in anesthesiology. His scholarly work for his DNP Project involved obstetrical complications and maternal death rates after normal deliveries. Dr. Barger is a seasoned Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with experience in busy anesthesia care team practices, as well as independent small critical access hospital practices throughout Florida and the Northeast regions. After earning his clinical doctorate, Dr. Barger became adjunct faculty with Barry University Nurse Anesthesiology Program and currently serves as a DNP Advisor, Mentor and Educator. His special interests include legal and ethical issues in advanced practice nursing and prevention of high risk obstetrical emergencies. On his downtime, he enjoys spending time with his family and serving as a pilot for animal transport and rescue.
