Professor Ferrand’s research interests include obstetrical anesthesia, nursing education, and genetics and genomics in anesthesia and analgesia.

Biography

Dr. Ferrand's diverse background includes five years of experience as a trauma ICU registered nurse and 13 years of experience as a nurse anesthesiologist specializing in obstetrical anesthesia. In addition, Professor Ferrand also just celebrated her fourth year as part of the Barry University faculty family and a total of six years in academia.

Dr. Ferrand completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2003. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Anesthesiology (2011) and her Doctorate in Philosophy (2024) at Barry University. Professor Ferrand also attended Florida State University to obtain her Family Nurse Practitioner certification (2007).

In addition, Professor Ferrand was selected as the first Nurse Anesthesiologist to become a National Institute of Health scholar for the Inter-Society Coordinating Committee for Practitioner Education in Genomics (ISCC-PEG). The goal of the 2-year-long program is to improve healthcare provider genomics education and integrate genomics education into clinical and research-based fields.
