Biography
Dr. Ian B. Quamina is currently an Assistant Professor of Human Resource Development and a proud alum of Barry University’s PhD in Leadership and Education with a specialization in Human Resource Development. Dr. Quamina is also a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and holds a Master's in Social Work with specialization in Employee Assistance Programs from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work with a minor in Human Resource Management from the University of West Indies, St Augustine, Trinidad. His professional and research interests include online learning pedagogy, employee assistance programs, work and family life issues, policy development, program evaluation, individual and organizational capacity building.
Dr. Quamina is a CCSI Service-Learning Faculty Fellow ’20 -’21 and currently serves as a Senator on Barry University’s Faculty Senate as well as an Academic Advisor and Dissertation Chair to many doctoral students completing their degree in Educational Leadership. Among other responsibilities, Dr. Quamina is co-chair of Barry Urban Garden (BUG), a sub-committee of Barry’s Ecological Sustainability Team and he also sits on the following ADSOE-LHD committees: Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) and Together Helping Reach Inspiring Virtual Experiences for Students (THRIVE).
Specific to his community service responsibilities, Dr. Quamina is past chair of the Employee Assistance Certification Commission (EACC) and currently sits on the Employee Assistance Professional Association International (EAPA) Board of Directors.
