Biography

Jane Simmons joined Barry University as an Assistant Professor in 2023.  She holds a BA dual degree in Psychology and Music Performance from Thomas Edison State College, a MA in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Walden University.  She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Qualified supervisor (QS) in Naples, Florida and is a national certified counselor (NCC). She has a private practice in Naples serving children, teens, adults, couples, and families. She specializes in anxiety disorders and holistic therapies reflecting alternative and complementary approaches in counseling. Her clinical expertise includes Gottman couples counseling, EMDR, DBT, and hypnotherapy. She has been a site supervisor for Capella University, Hodges University, and Walden University and was recently a contributing faculty member at Walden University.  Currently, she is serving as Past-President for the Florida Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (FACES) and is actively involved with the Florida Counseling Association (FCA).  Her research interests include exploring spirituality in counseling and whole person therapy focusing on body, mind, and spirit.
