Biography
Juliette Koves is an Assistant Professor at Barry University School of Law. Professor Koves teaches Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure and Civil Procedure and previously taught Legal Research and Writing. She has over thirty years of experience practicing law in Florida. Her diverse experience includes being a civil and criminal law litigator, an attorney ad litem, a guardian ad litem attorney and GAL, a professor at the undergraduate and law school levels and the Director of Program Development for a non-profit. Her supervisory and mentoring experience includes supervising Barry Law School students on dependency cases, being a Justice Sector Support Program Justice Advisor and Herat Team Leader in Afghanistan, helping to train and supervise over thirty assistant public defenders, supervising felony probationers, mentoring foster children and young women, and developing mentoring programs.
Professor Koves spent several years on Florida Bar committees where she helped to formulate and modify numerous delinquency, dependency, and traffic court rules. For most of her career, she was also a certified family law mediator, and she mediated many family law, Florida Bar and small claims cases. In addition she was on the board of the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers and Florida Association of Women Lawyers for a number of years.
She received both her undergraduate (Criminal Justice) and law degree from the University of Florida where she earned the book award in Criminal Procedure. She is an active Guardian ad Litem and is a member of the Women’s Executive Council.
