Biography

Mureen Shaw attained her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2011 from Barry University. Dr. Shaw also earned her MSN-Family NP degree from Barry University in 2001 and originally graduated in 1993 from Seneca College, North York, Canada where she is originally from. Board certified as a family nurse practitioner, she has worked in multiple area hospitals in medical clinics in the South Florida region in the areas of family planning, occupational health, urgent/walk-in care settings, and home healthcare. Dr. Shaw is a Sigma Theta Tau International inductee from 2001 and has served in board member positions as Secretary (2012-2015), and Vice President (2016-2017), for the local Florida Lambda Chi chapter. She is also a member of the local nursing organization, The Jamaican Nurses' Association of Florida, Inc., where she has been an active Board member since 2001, and has held key positions as the Chair of the Education Committee (2013-2018). She partners with community humanitarian organizations such as the Kiwanis of Kendal to actively volunteer her time for international humanitarian mission trips. Dr. Shaw's passion is global population health and serving the needs of impoverished geographical areas. She participates in multiple yearly international medical and academic mission trips to areas such as Jamaica, Grenada, and rural regions of Haiti. She has been honored to have been a past recipient of The Greater Miami Chamber Health Care Heroes® Finalists.
