RESEARCH INTERESTS Dr. Des Rosiers’ work bridges developmental psychology, health psychology, and cultural psychology, and examines risk and protective factors at the individual, cultural, and social level for alcohol use, drug use and other externalizing problems among diverse youth. SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESEARCH INTERESTS Adolescent/youth development; Risk and protective factors; Acculturation; Alcohol Expectancies; Family Processes; Underage drinking; Substance use; Externalizing problems, Health disparities.

Biography

Dr. Des Rosiers is a developmental psychologist and joined the faculty at Barry in 2012. Prior to coming to Barry, she was a post-doctoral research fellow at the University of Miami and taught at Florida International University. Dr. Des Rosiers earned her B.A in psychology from the University of South Florida and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the Florida International University. Dr. Des Rosiers is the coordinator for the Child and Adolescent Development Specialization (CADS) and the co-investigator of the Family Adolescent Cultural Transitions laboratory (F.A.C.T Lab) in the Department of Psychology at Barry University. She currently serves as the vice chair of the Psychology Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).
