Biography

Dr. Sanjay Sesodia, an esteemed educator in Physiology, holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, alongside an M.Sc. in Experimental Histopathology/Clinical Pharmacology and a B.Sc. in Physiology/Zoology. 

Bringing over 25 years of teaching experience, Dr. Sesodia is presently a Professor at the School of Podiatric Medicine, Barry University. Past roles include being an Associate and Assistant Professor at the former School of Graduate Medical Sciences, Barry University, where he excelled as the Coordinator of Physiology courses and Co-director of Pathology labs in the Podiatric Medicine program. 

Recognized for his commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Sesodia received multiple Outstanding Scholarship Awards from Barry University, spanning 2018-2019, 2013-2014, and 2009-2010. 

Actively engaged in professional societies, Dr. Sesodia served as President of the Florida Academy of Sciences from 2013 to 2015. His enduring membership in the American Physiological Society since 2002 and the Society for Neuroscience since 1989 reflects his dedication to staying current in his field. Dr. Sesodia is also a proud member, and past-President, of Sigma Xi, an honor society acknowledging his contributions to scientific research. 

Dedicating himself to academic governance, Dr. Sesodia chaired the Barry University Graduate Council from 2018 to 2020. His committee involvement extends to overseeing the BUSPM Curriculum Committee, engaging in programmatic self-study and institutional effectiveness, and participating in admissions. 

Dr. Sesodia's impactful research is evident in publications like "Effect of Technology on Student Class Performance and Class Absence" and "Can we predict 4-year graduation in Podiatric Medical School using admission data?" published in the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. 

Throughout his career, Dr. Sesodia actively presented research findings at scientific conferences, contributing to the broader scientific community. His mentorship shines in roles as a thesis advisor, guiding students in research pursuits. 

Beyond academia, Dr. Sesodia serves as a liaison from the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine (AACPM) Council of Faculties to the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME) Examination Committee since 2016. In 2022, Dr. Sesodia led the team that updated the Physiology section of the AACPM Curriculum Guide. 

Since 1997, Dr. Sesodia has been a question writer for the Physiology section of Part I National Board of Podiatric Medicine Exam (Basic Sciences), emphasizing his commitment to shaping the future of podiatric medicine through standardized testing.
