Biography

Dr. Shanika L. Hill, MS, DPM, is a dedicated professional with a diverse background in podiatric medicine, education, and research. Currently serving as the Associate Dean of Clinical Education at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine, Dr. Hill brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role.

Dr. Hill's educational journey has been marked by a commitment to excellence. She earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery in 2006. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences, awarded in 2004. Demonstrating her ongoing pursuit of knowledge, Dr. Hill is currently enrolled in the Doctorate in Education (EdD) program at Barry University Adrian Dominican School of Education, with an expected completion date in 2019.

As an esteemed educator, Dr. Hill has played key roles in shaping the education of future podiatric professionals. Since 2016, she has served as an Assistant Professor at Barry University School of Graduate Medical Sciences. Her commitment to teaching extends beyond the classroom, with past roles as an Adjunct Professor and Clinical Instructor for Operating Room (OR) protocols. Dr. Hill's teaching responsibilities also include serving as a Teacher's Assistant in Histology and a Tutor in Biochemistry and Medical Physiology at Barry University Graduate Medical Sciences.

Dr. Hill's dedication to education has not gone unnoticed, as she received the "Outstanding Achievement in the Volunteer Community" award from the Open Door Clinic in Homestead, FL, in 2015-2016. Additionally, she was recognized as one of the "Top 25 Black Educators in Miami, FL" by Legacy Magazine in 2017.

Actively involved in professional organizations, Dr. Hill holds memberships in the Miami Dade County Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. Her engagement extends to leadership roles, as she currently serves as a Board member for the Miami Dade County Podiatric Medical Association and as Chair-elect for the Council of Faculties at the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine.

In the realm of research, Dr. Hill has contributed to various projects, including studies on injection therapy for chronic venous disorders and the clinical and microbiological effectiveness of the Pinpointe Nail Laser for onychomycosis. Her involvement in research aligns with her commitment to advancing the field of podiatric medicine.

Dr. Hill is an active participant in institutional committees, demonstrating her commitment to the improvement of educational processes. She serves on the Council of Teaching Hospitals, the Clinical Oversight Committee, and the Institutional Review Board at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Dr. Hill engages in volunteer activities that reflect her commitment to community service. She is involved in initiatives such as the Miami Homeless Mission, providing foot washing and podiatric foot care to those in need.

In her leisure time, Dr. Shanika L. Hill enjoys various hobbies, including singing, creative writing (prose and poetry), reading, and teaching. Her multifaceted contributions to education, research, and community service make her a respected figure in the field of podiatric medicine.
