
Biography
Dr. Tan Fung (Ivan) Chan received a BSc in occupational therapy from McGill University, Montreal and an OTD from Rocky Mountain University. He also earned an EdD in higher education and adult learning from Walden University. Dr. Chan has been practicing occupational therapy in various clinical and community settings for over 20 years. Before joining Barry, Dr. Chan served as a clinical supervisor of occupational therapy services at Mount Sinai Medical Center and as an adjunct professor at Florida International University.
In addition to his duties as a full-time faculty member and the director of the occupational therapy program, Dr. Chan serves on the Barry University Institutional Review Board. In the community, Dr. Chan continues to serve as an occupational therapy clinician and consultant. Also, he is a certified technician and an event coordinator for the Carfit program. He is serving as a CAP reviewer for the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA)'s Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Project, and he is also serving as a member of the International Board of Reviewers for the Informing Science Institute (InSITE) Annual Conference.
Dr. Chan has completed research on the topics of evidence-based practice, dysphagia management, sleep and stress management, and instructional technology adoption. His specialty areas include geriatrics, neuro-rehabilitation, and adult learning. In his leisure time, he enjoys kayaking and mountain biking.
