Biography

Professor William Toledo Velazquez was born in Havana, Cuba. He graduated from the University of Havana and earned a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology.  Prof. Toledo Velazquez then moved to France and earned a master’s degree in Genetics from the University of Bordeaux. He then moved to USA and started working as a science instructor in several nursing schools in Miami. During that time, Prof. Toledo Velazquez taught general education courses such as Microbiology, Chemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology, College Mathematics, and Biochemistry. In 2013, Prof. Toledo Velazquez became an adjunct faculty at Miami Dade College, where he taught Microbiology, Genetics, and Biology courses for biology major and non-major students. In 2020, he became an adjunct faculty at Atlantis University where he taught several courses for the department of Health administration and for the Nursing program. Dr. Toledo Velazquez earned a PhD in Public Heath with specialization in Epidemiology from Walden University in 2021. He joined the Barry University College of Health and Wellness family in August 2022 as an adjunct faculty in charge of the Gross Anatomy, Physiology, and Histology laboratory courses. He became the full-time Laboratory Instructor for the BMS program in January 2023. He was elevated to Assistant Professor in 2024.
