Biography

Denise E. Lundy is an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) with a specialty in family practice. Denise is a native of Florida and also a Barry University Alumni. While growing up in Miami she has always had compassion to help others and loved being around people. In 1996 she enrolled at Florida A&M (FAMU) to start her journey to become a physician. While studying at FAMU, she first recognized her passion for nursing. She felt that a physician is usually with the patient for only a short time, while nurses are ever present. In the spring of 2001, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Denise began her career as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Mt. Sinai. While at Mt. Sinai she gained knowledge and skill working on a telemetry floor and in the cardiac catheterization lab. In 2007, Denise started the MSN-FNP program at Barry University and transitioned from the hospital setting to work in community health. During this time, she worked as a school nurse through the Health Connect in Our Schools program funded by The Children’s Trust. Denise continued to gain knowledge and experience while working in several public schools in Miami-Dade County. She especially enjoyed her position, as it gave her the opportunity to work at her former high school, Miami Central Senior. In the spring of 2011, she graduated from Barry University and was then certified as ARNP through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. In 2012, she worked in a pediatric primary care office in Miami-Dade and Broward County. Denise Lundy remains motivated to increase her knowledge and skill set while working at Barry University’s Student Health Services. “My goal is to meet the needs of our students, promote healthy lifestyles to lead to healthy adults.” “Be Barry Well” - Denise E.
