Biography

Year/Classification: Senior Hometown: Esslingen, Germany What is your favorite location on campus? Definitely the Landon. It has my favorite coffee place, lots of good food options, and many options to socialize with people. Plus, the hall of flag in Landon reminds me of the diversity of this school – and that is what I value most about Barry. Why did you choose Barry? I chose Barry because the application process was super easy, and everyone was super helpful along the way. I am also part of the rowing team, so that was a big factor as well. Why I am a student ambassador? I am a student ambassador because I love Barry and I want to show people what Barry is like so that they know the school before they decide whether they want to come here or not. The team of ambassadors and the admission and financial aid team are super nice, so every day at work is fun and I especially enjoy the events we are holding. Advice you would give your high school self now that you are a Barry buccaneer? Know your opportunities. I never thought it to be possible to study in the united states while rowing for the university, but here I am today doing exactly that. Know your opportunities, dare to dream and have the courage to go after your dreams. Tips for someone searching for the right college? Visit the campus of the school you are interested in and get in touch with students there. Either students working as student ambassadors or just randomly talking to people on campus and asking them for their opinion. Service opportunity you’ve participated in? As a team we were participating in cancer walks and I also gave tours to refugees to show them our university at an event the school had. And during high school time and after I participated in service opportunities at home in Germany. What are your future plans? I am graduating in May ’22 and after that I want to do my PhD in either industrial and organizational psychology or social psychology with a focus of my research on diversity management.
