Community engagement is defined as “collaboration between institutions of higher education and their larger communities (local, regional/state, national, global) for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity” (Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching). The primary purpose of the Awards is to publicly recognize students, faculty, staff/administrators, departments, and community partners for their community engagement participation, contributions, and achievements.
