PACT Nehemiah Action | Monday - April 7, 2025
4:00-9:30 PM
Location: Landon Events Room
Host Org/Dept: Adrian Dominican Institute for Mission and Leadership
PACT's annual Nehemiah Action Assembly is the culmination of their entire year's work, where they invite influential people in Miami-Dade on stage in front of hundreds, even thousands of PACT Network members and ask for their commitment to reasonable solutions and/or policies that accomplish change on the topic that the community has chosen. This is where the idea of People Power really comes into play, each network member is asked to bring 3 people to help bolster the voice of the people of Miami-Dade and maximize pressure on our elected officials.
Students participating in the PACT Nehemiah Action, who have not yet been involved with PACT, must attend an orientation session prior to the event, where they will learn about community organizing as a catalyst for social change, the difference between social justice and direct service, the mission of PACT, how they operate, their historical successes, and why this work is meaningful and important. There will also be information provided that is specific to their current campaign issue, which this year is Affordable Housing, and updates about the research they have been working on.
Climate gentrification is one of the main drivers for displacement in Miami Dade and unhoused populations are most vulnerable to extreme weather events and heat related illnesses. Housing is impacted by our environmental crises just like everything else, show up to show your support and fight for a fair housing market in Miami Dade!
Orientation is from 4:00-5:00 PM in the Landon Events Room.
The bus for the Nehemiah Action will leave at 5:30 PM from the Landon parking lot, registration must be completed in the Landon events room prior to departure.
You will receive 3 service hours for attending the orientation as well as the Nehemiah Action.
**Please wear Barry gear, preferably red, to show our pride and support 😊
