Barry University’s Command Decision Team (CDT) continues to monitor Hurricane Helene.
Given that Miami-Dade and Broward counties are now under a Tropical Storm Warning and the public-school systems in both counties will remain open, we have determined, out of an abundance of caution, to allow flexibility for faculty and staff in these locations. While the main campus and sites will officially remain open, faculty and staff who live in low-lying areas or have difficulty traveling in significant weather events may work remotely. Supervisors are encouraged to exercise flexibility with their teams during this time. Additionally, faculty may pivot their courses to an online format if necessary and are responsible for communicating this directly with their students. No courses are to be canceled.
Barry University locations in St. Petersburg, Ocala/Gainesville, and Orlando including the School of Law have pivoted to remote operations through Friday, September 27, 2024.
Students currently taking classes at any University location may receive further instructions directly from their faculty or program directors.
It is important all Barry University students and employees continue to monitor the Barry University Prepare website and our Emergency Hotline at 305-899-4000 for updated information as well local media outlets for the latest on the storm.
The CDT will continue to monitor and provide updates as conditions warrant.
