Update #5

Barry University’s Command Decision Team (CDT) continues to closely monitor Hurricane Milton. As the nature of these storms are at times unpredictable, we continue to evaluate and make informed decisions based on the latest data available through our emergency management partners throughout the State of Florida.

As of 5 p.m. today, all Barry University locations throughout the State of Florida are closed through tomorrow, Wednesday October 8th to prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Milton.

All university locations in west and central Florida, including St. Petersburg, Ocala/Gainesville, and Orlando (including the School of Law), are closed and all courses at these locations are cancelled until further notice.

All Barry University locations in Miami-Dade and Broward will pivot to remote operations, including courses for Thursday, October 10th. For courses that do not lend themselves for remote instruction, faculty are to communicate with their students on cancellations.

All residential students on the main campus should follow the guidance of Housing and Residence Life. Essential personnel (e.g. Campus Safety, Dining, Facilities, Housing and Residence Life) will be on campus. Dining hall will remain open for standard operating hours. Union Market will be open from 10am-6pm. All other dining locations will be closed.

Additional notifications will be sent as conditions warrant.

Barry University students and employees should continue to monitor the barry.edu/prepare website, our Emergency Hotline at 305-899-4000, and local media outlets for the latest updates.
