Barry University is committed to providing opportunities for all students to receive a personalized, values-based education to prepare them for the workforce. As part of that commitment, the University will host the 2023 5k/8k Nun Run, an annual run/walk that raises money for scholarships for students to continue their education at Barry and achieve their dreams.
Every year, more than half of Barry students report a deficit between $2,500 and $5,000 in covering their expenses. These might seem like small amounts, but for students who come from homes where family income is less than $50,000, any amount can make the difference between staying at Barry and having to drop out.
In honor of Barry’s founders, the Adrian Dominican Sisters, runners are encouraged to wear a nun’s habit as they race through Barry’s main campus and the Miami Shores neighborhood. The race will bring the campus and the community together, while promoting health and wellness. The event is certified in accordance with USA Track & Field.
